PostSubject: Looking into buying a bike   Tue Mar 16, 2010 1:55 am

Talked to dave and I am considering a newer r6 bike when I sell my car. Anyone have any opinions? I want no less then 500cc, no more then 600, rode dirtbikes before, never a motorcycle. I am 5'9", 140lbs. Not looking to go fast, or do retarded things on it. looking for opinions on bikes, reviews from owners, etc.

I just looked at the gsxr 600, and it really isnt as bad as I thought, now the 1000 is the bike I must have sat on. That baby is huge for a a small guy. I would consider a new 08+ninja 250 or a hyosung 250 as a good beginner bike. Very light, can go pretty fast, and much more forgiving to a beginner. Also you can pick up a new one for around 4k

well if your not looking for speed then any 600cc bike will do you fine.. the R6 tops out around 164mph.. if it was me id go bigger.. more speed = more fun LOL. but also if your thinking of rideing it for a long distance.. a sport bike your all leaned over.. with a reg bike like ricks or somthing your more in the up right position. and dont have that ricer sound LOL

well my dad has a brand new one he wants to give me for 1k, forget the name, but its like ricks only more bad ass, lol. I am more into the crotch rocket look though rather then the huge stature of the other bikes. and hell honestly I dont see myself going faster then maybe 80 for quite a while. dont feel like becoming roadkill just yet

600cc not enough speed? a 250cc ninja alone can hit 140-160 mph, a 1000cc bike is overkill unless you race at the track or its a harley. Sport Bikes are much different

Outlaw, just wondering if you have ever ridden a sport bike (as in crochrocket and not a harley/goldwing/ect.)? And how tall and how much do you weigh?

See a bigger bike might feel better for you since your a lot bigger than gamble, me n gamble are about the same size and from personal experience the frame is too big on all of the 1000s to be comfortable on

every inch really counts when it comes to this, its really scary if you cant get at least a toe on each side on the ground

I assume you already have your permit, if you are going the drivers license center to take the test ,good luck. They really don't like to pass people who haven't taken the safety course.

When you go to get your license, what does the test consist of? Do they follow you on road or do you just stay in the parking lot?

If you take the safety course they give you a license at the end. That is unless you are a moron, and in that case you shouldn't be on a bike to begin with.

At the DLC you have to do some real tight figure 8's at a certain speed ,go through some cones, do a panic stop, pretty easy stuff on a ricer or sportster. Not so easy on a raked and stretched big twin.

That is what we are doing, is signing up at the Safety course to receive the permits. And they have you use their bikes from Street track n trail that sponsors it so it is luck of the draw what size bike you get. Another thing is if you cant safely put your feet both flat on the ground, dont get it. I am looking now for a street bike rather then sport. Going in a little bit to check out the warehouse at STnT.

I think all the bikes are 250cc . They used to be all 250 rebel's. You will need a DOT helmet to take the class with.
