Not to many companies blatantly tell you to break them in, but it defiantly wouldn't hurt to do so.

Did it with mine when I had it, never had a problem with amp or sub.

Just my .2

not to sure myself, but I would imagine that it would help them last longer.

Break in period is usually a must. Idk about loudness, if anything you may here it a tad louder, but it will keep the sub living much longer. Think of the concept like this.. you have a balloon. The first time your blow the balloon up, it is hard to blow up. Once you blow the balloon up, and then deflate it, the next time around blowing it up, it is much more easier to blow because the balloon is stretched. The same concept with the sub, the first few times you run it, it needs to break in. Once the sub is broken in, the rubber will usually stretch just a small tad, which will make it much more easier on the sub to thump.

I know this whole thing sounded dirty in a way, but hoped it helped Cool

Dave is right, and it will usually make the sub sound a lot louder and deeper then not breaking in. and yes break in is required if you want to keep your subs longer then a few weeks, lol
