| Its for a replacement for my brothers Blaster, Honda is great, but they use such old technology in most of their machines... I would like an EFI quad liquid cooled | |

| Mostly trail with some MX, he personally wants the yfz 450, but thats not the best trail quad, I would like something with reverse as well most likely
But by next year im hoping to upgrade the Outlaw to the KTM 450 or 525 SX

| reverse? you don't need that just plan your route. a guy I ride with has a yfz450r(mx)EFI, he might want to sell it because he really wishes he waited for the yfz450x. | |

| It will deff. need reverse because the kid its going to is smaller and we will some times ride on trails that are not fully developed, and it comes handy | |

| My brother went from a Blaster up to a YZ250F dirtbike and then one year later to the YZ450F dirtbike, and he just turned 15.
Though i met this older guy on the trails once and he told me that there are only two types of riders........ those that have crashed, and those that haven't crashed yet. It kinda stuck in the back of my head. He also said to never buy a bike than you wouldn't want to land on you. I am guessing he ate it more than a few times in his life.
If he is the one you were talking about getting a KFX700 for, you should probably keep with the 450 class bikes. He will be happier on one. Not only is it big and heavy but it's not well suited for any kind of MX riding. It flies great distances like a turd.
I am 6'3" and the Kawie fits me perfect, some of my friends that have rode it complained about it being too big for them.
One friend is 5'10" and he said it was just too big and heavy for him to really take advantage of the extra power. On the other hand if he is still growing and will get another foot on him it could be a perfect bike to grow into. If nothing else it will build muscle, i can vouch for that, it takes a lot to throw that thing through the woods at speed

| All the 450's are super light which is a plus for a smaller rider They just better hold on tight | |

| We all wish they hold up tight from new, That is one reason why I bought used the last time after lots of reasearch. Plus you can get a deal out there, if you wait. Brain fart wow just saw the above post and Dave was talking about the rider not the quad

| There are tons of used 450's out there, just watch out for motor trouble. The 450's tend to get thrashed on pretty hard. I rebuilt one for a friend's YFZ450 and the parts are not cheap. Also you have to have a special yamaha tool to pull the main bearings out, i had to take his to a dealer to get them yanked.
My brother had a first year Honda CR450F and that thing was a POS. It was like a re-usable grenade on wheels. He toasted the top end so many times that i just kept spare valve body parts and pistons around for it.
I hear they are much better now

| look for a stock one not ridden that much, I see them all over craigslist. How many people by hoping to get out and never get to put the time on them for some reason or another. you'll be able to tell by looking at the plastic, levers, pegs, underside, side case wear, etc. | |
